Vacation and Album recommendations; Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit — Here We Rest

I’ll be on vacation until the 29th but, rather than let my blog languish, I thought I would take advantage of my absence to auto-publish some brief album recommendations.  I’m focusing my 52 Albums in 52 Weeks effort on albums released in 2012 so these absentee recommendations will give me an opportunity to show some love for albums previously released that I have only recently discovered.  As I’ve yet to come across and album I really love in 2012, this will also give me a chance to highlight some albums that are fantastic from the first track to the last.

First up is Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit’s 2011 album ‘Here We Rest.’  Jason Isbell, formerly of The Drive by Truckers, is a singer-songwriter with southern rock roots.  Here We Rest is an incredible album top to bottom and is reminiscent of the James McMurtry’s best work.

Listen to Here We Rest on Spotify.
